WCIloilo 2023: Embracing Community and Learning

After a hiatus, we are thrilled to announce the return of WordCamp Iloilo! Our aim for this conference is to create a laid-back and community-driven atmosphere, embodying the spirit that WordCamps are known for. Whether you’re a first-time attendee or a seasoned WordCamp-goer, our primary mission is to provide you with an enriching experience, opportunities to make new connections, and of course, have a great time! To help you set your expectations for the event, here are a few things you can anticipate at WordCamp Iloilo 2023.

Entirely organized by volunteers:

WordCamps are unique in that they are organized by dedicated volunteers from local communities. This means that no one profits from the event financially. Your ticket price covers logistical expenses such as the venue, equipment rentals, meals, kits, and KidsCamp. This community-driven approach reflects the ethos of the WordPress platform, which has thrived thanks to the commitment of volunteers over the years.

Dress comfortably:

The venue is air-conditioned, so be prepared with warm clothing in case you find it a bit chilly. Since you’ll be sitting for extended periods, we recommend wearing comfortable attire. Shorts, skirts, and sandals are perfectly acceptable, but please refrain from wearing slippers.

Bring a small bag or backpack:

Do you often get thirsty and carry a water bottle with you? Perhaps you like to take notes on your laptop, tablet, or with a pen and pad? Whatever your needs, having a small bag or backpack will prove handy during the event. Plus, you’ll need it to store the exciting swag we’ll be giving out!

Keep personal items secure:

We understand the value of your personal belongings and want to ensure you have a worry-free WordCamp experience. While the event is gated, it’s still advisable to keep an eye on your belongings. If you need to step away from your table, kindly ask a nearby attendee to watch over your gear. This act of solidarity can also spark conversations and forge connections.

Reminder: No WiFi at the venue:

Regrettably, due to infrastructure limitations, we are unable to provide WiFi connectivity throughout the conference hall. If you need internet access on your laptop, consider using your smartphone as a hotspot.

Update your online presence:

In today’s digital age, it’s not uncommon to check someone’s social media accounts after meeting them. Take the opportunity to update your online information and social media profiles, ensuring that what you present aligns with your personal and professional goals. If you have a business card, bring it along for networking purposes.

Embrace the Q&A opportunities:

WordCamp Iloilo is all about open-mindedness and learning. We encourage you to come prepared with questions about the topics discussed or any WordPress-related queries you may have. Our speakers and local leads will be available at the Happiness Bar, ready to provide insightful answers to the best of their abilities.

Adherence to the Code of Conduct:

To foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, WordCamp Iloilo strictly adheres to a Code of Conduct. This ensures that everyone feels comfortable and respected throughout the event. We kindly request that you familiarize yourself with the code, which can be found at https://iloilo.wordcamp.org/2023/code-of-conduct/.

Above all, we want you to have an enjoyable time at WordCamp Iloilo 2023! Our commitment to creating a community-driven and educational experience aims to empower attendees like you. So, mark your calendars, prepare your questions, and get ready for an inspiring and fun-filled WordCamp in Iloilo. We can’t wait to welcome you!
