Oneal has been working as a Learning and Development Specialist for over 20 years, training an average of 2,000 people per year, in person and remotely. Some of his training programs include teaching people proper presentation skills and how to be confident in public speaking.
Back in 2007 when Oneal needed to make a website for a not-for-profit Star Wars costuming organization, he started using Drupal and Joomla, upon the recommendation of some developer friends. He used Drupal for its customizability, but since he had little experience in coding, He had difficulty modifying it for their needs.
A year later, Oneal tried WordPress. He found it more user-friendly, and it was so much easier to transition the admin responsibilities to the end-user. Oneal has recommended it to some friends and professional contacts. He also uses it for his own personal blog.
In 2019, Oneal started volunteering for the WordPress Five-for-the-Future program, which led him to work with the #WPDiversity team and now he helps run Diversity workshops. He has run workshops in the Philippines, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, India, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Switzerland.
Oneal is currently the co-facilitator of the APAC #WPDiversity Network Building program and as of July 2022, he has been accepted into the WordPress Training Team Faculty Program as an Administrator.
Oneal was also part of the Speakers Team of the flagship WordCamp Asia 2023 team of organizers, helping to ensure Diversity and Inclusion among the speaker selection.
