As the second consecutive WordCamp to be held in Iloilo City, we\u2019re aiming for the conference to foster the same kind of laid-back, community-driven vibe that WordCamps are always meant to have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless if this is your first time to attend the event or not, do know that your primary mission is to learn, make new friends and industry acquaintances, and to simply have fun! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that said, we think that informing you with a few\nguidelines will help you set your expectations for the event. Here are a few\nthings that you might expect from WordCamp 2019 come conference time: <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The entire event is staffed by volunteers<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

WordCamps, as community-driven conferences, are organized by\nvolunteers from local communities. In other words, no party is earning from\nthis event. Each ticket covers various logistical costs like the venue, LED\nscreen and projector rentals, meals, kits, and even ancillary events like the\nContributor and Kids\u2019 Workshop days. This is all by design, since it reflects\nthe openness of the WordPress platform, which has also been powered by\nvolunteers for years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review the list of presenters before the day of the\nconference.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While plenary talks are a must-attend for everyone at\nWordCamp, we advise that you browse for the list of our scheduled workshops for\nthe day. At the very least, you can set your mind on which presentation you\u2019ll\nbe attending without the pressure of deciding on the day of WordCamp\nitself.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress for comfort.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The venue is air-conditioned, so do bring warm clothing in\ncase you\u2019re expecting the environment to be a bit chilly for you. Since you\u2019ll also\nbe sitting for long stretches of time, we advise that you dress up in your most\ncomfortable, shorts, skirts, and sandals are fair game, however, please be\nreminded that wearing slippers is a big no-no at the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bring a small bag or backpack.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Do you bring your water bottle along with you because you\nget thirsty easily? Do you bring your laptop or tablet with you when writing\nnotes? How about if you simply have a writing pad and pen with you? You never\nknow when that small bag can come in handy during the event (HINT: you need it\nfor keeping the swag we\u2019ll be giving out).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep your personal items close by at all times.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t want your WordCamp to be the one day where your\nlaptop or smartphone suddenly got lost, do you? While WordCamp is a gated\nconference, we cannot vouch for every person that will be entering the\npremises. If you need to leave your gear at your table, just kindly ask the\nperson beside you to look out for your stuff. Besides, doing a solid to someone\nwho you just knew at the event is a good way of jumpstarting conversations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reminder: There\u2019s no WiFi at the venue.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Much as we would like to have the entire conference hall\nconnected online, the current infrastructure just makes it nearly impossible\nfor us to do so. If you really need to hook up your laptop online, just try hotspotting\nyour smartphone to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Update your online information and social media accounts,\nand bring calling card, if available.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

These days, there\u2019s no shame in stalking a person you just\nmet through his or her social media accounts! So, make sure that any online\ninfo you have is updated and is something that you\u2019re proud to show when it\u2019s\ntime to talk and network! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Got questions? This is the day for answers!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Since we encourage attendees to come to the event with open\nminds, we\u2019re also expecting that many of you will have questions with regards\nto the discussed topics or just about anything relating to WordPress. Our\nspeakers and local leads will be hanging out at the Happiness Bar, so make sure\nto visit because it is where all WordPress-related questions will be answered\nto the best of our abilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We strictly observe a Code of Conduct for WordCamp Iloilo.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
