WordCamp? Never heard of it. What’s it about?
It’s not a camp. It’s a conference, but one that allows you to let your hair down. It’s filled with presentations and workshops, but it’s one where you can have fun, too. It’s where you don’t just “network”, but it gives you opportunities to make meaningful connections with your fellow attendees, or even make friends with them.
TL;DR WordCamp is a celebration of everything about WordPress and the wonderful, interconnected global communities that make them so awesome. And one such “community” happens to be located in Iloilo City, too!
I don’t build nor design websites. Why should I still attend WordCamp Iloilo?
I don’t know about you, but from where we’re standing, just about everyone uses the internet today. From selling stuff and services to building their online followings (wassup, influencers???), the internet has made all of these possible. Plus, the Philippines is still the social media capital of the world! That should count for something, right?
The next step to all of these is, obviously enough, having a website. If this is a thought that might have occurred to you before, then consider WordCamp Iloilo as your starter course (and more) to the wonderful world of online marketing and entrepreneurship.
Sidenote: if you’re ever curious on how one can make a living off WordPress, here’s something our friends from Maven Solutions wrote a while back!
Fine, fine. I’ll go. The speaker lineup looks intimidating, though.
You know what fixes that? Come along with a friend!
Okay, that might be a *big* ask for some, but here’s something we’ve devised ever since WordCamp Iloilo Year One: a Happiness Bar.
Before you think on it, no, alcohol won’t be served at the venue, so “happiness” won’t come from getting drunk. Rather, it’s an area where our volunteers and presenters hang out. This is where you could ask any questions on WordPress or about the presentations.
Of course, because people do not have artificial intelligence, we can’t guarantee that every question you ask will be answered. However, what we can do is make suggestions on where you might find those answers. Or, you know, you can just go there to talk with us, because talking to someone is always nice!
Important: don’t worry if you miss out on anything on WordCamp Iloilo.
The organizers have contracted a crew(volunteers) to film each presentation that will be uploaded to WordPress TV, so don’t stress out about possibly missing some presentation while you’re there.
Aside from that, there’s a reason why we have to point this out: we’re after “quality over quantity” for our type of WordCamps. The human brain can only absorb so much information over two days (three, if we’re gonna include Contributor Day), so scheduling breaks in smooth intervals have always been a priority for us. Mental health is #1, fam.

We’ve written a post on what to expect for this year’s WordCamp Iloilo here.
Also, all attendees and presenters are expected to adhere to WordCamp’s “Code of Conduct” (read more about it here). Essentially, as long as you won’t be a jerk while at WordCamp Iloilo, then there’s no need to worry!
Tickets are still available online.
Because we want more people to come and attend WordCamp Iloilo, we have decided to accept walk-ins at the event.
If you’re unsure if you want to attend yet, we got you. Just be there on August 24-25 at Iloilo Convention Center and register. No catch, we just want more people to experience WordCamp Iloilo.
Oh! How I wish I could attend. Maybe next year, I could attend one, too. I will do my best to save a lot to pay for my trip fare and for my hotel board and lodging. Thank you so much for this post KHLEOMIX !👌💪❤❤❤
We’d love to meet you for next WordCamp Iloilo. Thanks!!!
